Community Builders Fair

North Star LGBTQ+ Community Center invites you to our Community Builders Fair – an interactive evening dedicated to connecting passionate volunteers with meaningful opportunities that will shape our Pride Month events and beyond.

This isn't your typical volunteer recruitment event. We've designed a hands-on, engaging experience where you can explore different volunteer roles, meet our event leads, and find the perfect fit for your skills and interests. Whether you have specialized talents or simply enthusiasm to share, there's a place for you in building our community's foundation.

First-time volunteers welcome! Never volunteered with us before? This is the perfect opportunity to get started! We'll guide you through the process, help you find the right fit, and make your first volunteer experience rewarding and meaningful.

What to Expect:

• Interactive Stations: Explore volunteer opportunities for each of our upcoming Pride Month events

• One-on-One Connections: Meet directly with event leads to discuss specific roles

• No Experience Required: We welcome all skill levels and will provide necessary training

• Immediate Sign-Ups: Find your perfect role and join a team on the spot

• Refreshments & Social Time: Connect with fellow community members in a relaxed atmosphere

• Flexible Commitments: Options for both one-time events and ongoing involvement

• Pride Cookout (June 7): Help construct a welcoming celebration at South Fork Park

• Give Out Day Campaign (May 22-June 30): Build our fundraising foundation through:

  • Cocktails for a Cause & Amateur Drag Pageant "Rising North Star Drag Star" (June 5): Help showcase community talent

  • Social media, donor outreach, and campaign support roles

• Pride Festival & Parade (June 14): Create our presence at Winston-Salem Pride

• The Shalom Project's Big Chill (July): Design our entry for this post-Pride ice cream social

• Halloween Committee: Join the architectural team for our October events

• Ongoing Programs: Discover year-round ways to strengthen our community

Building Our Organizational Structure - Join a Committee!

We're establishing permanent committees to strengthen our organization's foundation. Join one of these vital teams:

• Finance & Development Committee: Help construct our fundraising strategy, manage grants, and build donor relationships

• Communications Committee: Design our messaging, manage social media, and create materials that connect our community

• Programming Committee: Architect new programs and enhance existing ones to serve our community's evolving need

• Facilities & Operations Committee: Maintain and improve our physical space and day-to-day operations
